Passing of Villager: Jim Doyle
James (Jim) Doyle, 1937-2025
After a year and a half of home hospice care, Jim, holding his wife’s hand, died peacefully in their Dickeyville home on 9 December.
Biography
Jim and his wife, Charleye Dyer, moved to their first Dickeyville home in 1980. In 1994, with young daughter, Leela, they relocated to their second residence under the City Champion Sycamore. Jim, an alumn of University of Notre Dame, attended graduate school at Boston College where he later was on the faculty. From Boston he moved to the Western Blind Rehabilitation Center in Menlo Park, California, where he served as Assistant Chief and where he met Charleye. They resided in Virginia, Ohio, and finally Maryland where both taught orientation-mobility skills to individuals with visual impairments or blindness.
Editor: Our heartfelt condolences go to Charleye, Leela, their extended family and friends. Jim was a wonderful human, friend, and neighbor. His presence and contributions to the village will be remembered and missed.
