RIP Villager: Jim Doyle

James (Jim) Doyle (1937-2025)

After a year and a half of home hospice care, Jim, holding his wife’s hand, died peacefully in their Dickeyville home on 9 December.

Biography

Jim and his wife, Charleye Dyer, moved to their first Dickeyville home in 1980.  In 1994, with young daughter, Leela, they relocated to their second residence under the City Champion Sycamore. Jim, an alumn of University of Notre Dame, attended graduate school at Boston College where he later was on the faculty.  After co-directing the VA Blind Center in Palo Alto, California, where he met Charleye, they resided in Virginia, Ohio, and finally Maryland where both taught orientation-mobility skills to individuals with visual impairments or blindness.

Our heartfelt condolescences go to Charleye, Leela, their extended family and friends. Jim was a wonderful human, friend, and neighbor. His presence and contributions to the village will be remembered and missed.
